Japan Language: Homestay Highlights (Group 1)

By Grace C.

The part of the trip I was the most nervous for was the homestay, but as it turned out, this week has been one of the most immersive and fun yet!

One of the first nights of my homestay, my host mom and dad invited over a few neighbor families to have a barbecue together. Everybody brought different foods to cook and I was able to practice my Japanese with both the kids and the parents.

We also went for a lot of walks around nearby parks and landmarks, like the one day we went to a waterfall together!

One of my favorite parts of homestay was also the food. As well as the home cooked meals, the trips out together to try new food I had never had in America were especially fun.
