This week we wrapped up our homestay experience and flew from Mallorca to Barcelona. It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of our Experiment! We have learned so much and made many new friends along the way.
During the last days of our homestay, we painted a mural in an underserved neighborhood in Palma de Mallorca. Our mural is intended to be a first step in turning an abandoned lot into a neighborhood park. Many of the neighbors expressed interest in and appreciation for our creative work.
The last night of our homestay, we invited our homestay families for a potluck dinner on the beach. Many of the students helped with shopping and cooking meals for the potluck. All the families attended, and it was a great way for students and families to bond before saying our goodbyes.
On Saturday, we arrived in Barcelona, where we have been touring non-stop! First we did a walking tour of the gothic quarter before visiting the fortress of Montjuic and enjoying the amazing views. On Monday, we enjoyed a picnic in Park Guell and visited the Sagrada Familia. Finally, on Tuesday we visited the Picasso museum before saying our final goodbyes.
This trip has been an amazing experience, and we are all grateful for the new things we’ve learned and the amazing people we’ve met.
