Explore topics in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math with high school students from across the U.S. and Egypt this winter. Gain hands-on experience in STEAM projects and develop your leadership skills through this FREE interactive virtual program.
The Experiment Digital STEAM Discovery Lab will bring together 66 American youth and 50-100 Egyptian youth to explore youth leadership and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). This fully funded winter virtual experience is modeled on The Experiment Digital’s successful summer virtual exchange program. The Experiment Digital: STEAM Discovery Lab prepares participants to be more civically engaged and lead. Participants will formulate and implement STEAM-based service projects in their local communities, and come away from the program with:
– An enhanced understanding and practice of leadership
– Increased involvement in civil society and volunteering
– Mutual understanding between youth from different cultures
– STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive a Certificate of Completion in Leadership & Global Issues Analysis, access to the U.S. Department of State’s International Alumni Network, unique project funding opportunities from the U.S. Department of State, and a $400 scholarship for summer 2022 toward participation in one of The Experiment in International Living’s programs around the world.

The Experiment Digital: STEAM Discovery Lab will draw upon World Learning’s years of experience in working on STEM secondary education in Egypt, utilizing an internal team of STEM experts in the U.S. and Egypt who will facilitate online experiential learning activities. World Learning, in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Education (MoE) and other partners, developed a network of eleven STEM high schools that embody trans-disciplinary collaboration, real world applications, and critical thinking. The program will accommodate students of all STEM experience and proficiency levels. Participants grouped into two to three 50-student neighborhoods, each led by one trained facilitator with prior Experiment Digital experience. There will also be a third “roving facilitator” – a bilingual (English-Arabic) Egyptian with STEM expertise.
