After driving from Ouarzazate, our bus finally arrived in Merzouga. We stopped at a scarf shop so students could pick up a scarf to protect their face and eyes from blowing sand. Kind Moroccans showed us how to properly tie them, and then we drove to our beautiful hotel, right on the edge of the Sahara.
Despite some students being nervous, we all got on camels and no one fell! Camel names included Gary, Harry, Jerome, and Steven. We rode through the dunes with a guide and stopped to watch the sunset. We climbed some sand dunes, and took many photos of the endless desert.
We returned to our hotel to have a delicious dinner and listen to some drummers!
As a final goodbye to the desert, we all woke up at 6 AM the next morning to climb a nearby dune and watch the sunrise.
We’re off to Fez next, before continuing on to our homestay!
